Richard Susskind

Professor Richard Susskind OBE is the world’s most cited author on the future of legal services. He is President of the Society for Computers and Law, Chair of the Advisory Board of the Oxford Internet Institute, and, since 1998, has been Technology Adviser to the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales. He advises leading law firms, in-house legal departments, and governments and judiciaries around the world. In the 1980s, he wrote his doctorate on artificial intelligence and the law at Balliol College, Oxford. Richard’s work has been translated into 18 languages and he has been invited to speak in over 60 countries. He has written ten books, including The Future of Law (1996), Tomorrow’s Lawyers (2013, 2017) and Online Courts and the Future of Justice (2019, 2021).

Margaret is General Counsel in Fexco, an Irish-owned international company which provides a range of financial, fintech and other services, including dynamic currency conversion, corporate payments, investment services, bureau de change, managed business solutions and outsourcing. Margaret provides legal support and advice to Fexco’s many business units and manages strategic and operational decisions. Since joining Fexco, Margaret has led multiple corporate, strategic and tactical legal initiatives. Prior to joining Fexco, Margaret worked as a Solicitor in Matheson. She graduated from the University of Limerick in 2005 with a 1.1 honours degree in Law and European Studies. Following this, she graduated with an LLM from University College Cork.

Previously he headed up the legal team at Monzo. In his current role, he oversees legal, risk, compliance, financial crime, and operations. James has worked with disruptive, fast-growth, early-stage companies since 2018. Before entering the FinTech world, James had legal roles in investment management and previously worked in telecoms.

Danh Nguyen is the Group General Counsel of Paysend Group - a fintech payment platform. He has over 20 years of experience in commercial practice experience across financial services, payments, FinTech and technology sectors. Danh has worked for banking stalwarts Westpac and Western Union, where he was previously General Counsel and Vice President. This experience has allowed Danh to develop a strong skillset in navigating complex commercial, compliance and regulatory frameworks across multiple jurisdictions to deliver value to the business. He is well versed in leading large licensing, regulatory compliance and transformation initiatives and using Lean Management principles, tools and practices to drive organisational, operational and cultural change. Legal innovation is a big driver for Danh. He spent three years in a management consulting role with KorumLegal. Danh is a true global citizen. He grew up in Sydney, was born in Vietnam, worked in Hong Kong for a decade and is now based in London. He is passionate about putting people and the client first.

Danny started as a paralegal and trainee at the City & Guilds Group before qualifying into a full-service legal/compliance function undertaking corporate, commercial, IP and developing privacy expertise through leading on GDPR implementation. Having taken an interest in financial services at university, Danny decided to take a role at Raymond James, where he continued to undertake commercial practice, act as a privacy officer, build financial services regulatory experience, and develop the legal function. Danny moved to the start-up/fin-tech world with Lending Works (a regulated consumer credit firm). As in any growing business, the key focus is delivering critical projects within tight timelines, providing efficient, pragmatic advice across various practice areas, and (of course) dealing with a range of non-legal matters! Danny also acts as pro-bono ‘honorary counsel’ for UD Music – a charity that educates, empowers and creates life opportunities for young people inspired by the sounds, words and rhythms of Black music culture.
